NORWEGIAN VISA REQUIREMENTS

Norwegian visa is a form of permission or a pass for a non-citizen to enter, transit or remain in Norway. Norwegian visa is a stamp or form placed in your passport when you enter, and sometimes when you leave Norway.

A visa in your passport does not guarantee entry. That remains the right of the immigration officials in Norway.

Norwegian Visa Types
Residents of Canada
Residents of United Kingdom
Residents of United States

The Norwegian tourist visa requirement for nationals of Canada, UK and USA are shown above. If you are a permanent resident of either Canada or UK or USA, please select your nationality shown in your passport from the box appropriate box above, to see whether you will need a visa for Norway. The Norwegian Embassies and Consular Offices are the only accredited Norwegian Government agencies, who are permitted to grant Norwegian visas in a different country. Generally, to avoid any risks that can come up when getting on flights to Norway or at Norwegian ports of entry due to possible miscommunication, visitors are highly adviced to apply with the Norwegian Embassy and Consular Offices in your home country to get Norwegian visas in advance of travelling.

To apply for a Norwegian visa, you will require a visa application form and this can be obatined from Norwegian tourist visa form or Norwegian business visa form. You can also obtain sample visa cover letters, which you can send it to the Norwegian embassy in your city from visa letter for Norway.

There are several types of Norwegian visas available for travel to Norway: Norwegian tourist visa is issued for a limited time of leisure travel and no business activities permitted in Norway; Norwegian business visa is for participating in short term commerce in Norway; Norwegian Transit visa, is valid for 3 days or less, for transferring through port in Norway to a third destination; On-arrival visa for Norway is given at a port of entry. This is different from not needing a visa at all, as the visitor sholud still get the visa before they can in fact seek to pass through immigration point in Norway; Norwegian spousal visa or partner visa, given to the spouse, civil partner or de facto partner of a resident or Norwegian citizen.

Please note: In individual cases, you may be required to provide additional documents. Embassy rules and regulations can and do, very occationally change overnight. We accept no responsibilty for any such changes. Also, we regret that we cannot, under any circumstances, intercede or take responsibilty for any transaction initiated directly between an applicant and the embassy.
